FAQ

Am I too old to start learning a musical instrument?

Not at all! If anything, music will keep your senses and brain very sharp! Music is a great way to have fun not just when practising or performing by yourself but also when making music with others. Learning music can enhance your coordination, allow you to express your emotions in a creative way and help you further your self-discipline and time management skills. Music is always fun, no matter if that’s playing for your personal enjoyment, playing carols for family and friends, or squeezing your accordion at a birthday party!

Do you offer group lessons?

Group lessons are ideal for all levels and ages. They are particularly suited to students who would like to learn music while interacting with others in a fun and engaging way. Whether you are a starting musician, a pianist with intermediate level skills or have played for a while our group lessons would be a great option for you.

I don’t read music notation. Can I start playing piano / accordion anyway?

That’s a definite yes 😊! Music may seem complicated at first sight, but once you know my treasured strategies and drawing from a ‘bag of tricks’ you’ll be able to make great strides in a short time. Music reading will be a constant and regular part of the lessons and will be learned at the same time as your piano or accordion.

I am motivated but have little time to practise.

Think of it as doing some regular exercise at the gym … the more frequently you practise the faster you’ll see yourself progressing with confidence!

The recommendation is a minimum of 30-minute practice 3 times a week. Try and practise regularly throughout the week. Frequent and short practice sessions lead to great results, way better than a lot of practice just a few hours before your lesson. Allowing at least for 10–15 minutes every day. Also, being consistent and setting aside some time every day to revise what done during a lesson means you’ll be able to make consistent progress!

Can you assist with buying an instrument?

Thanks to my expertise and thorough professional network, I would be pleased to help you with the purchase of a new or pre-loved instrument – be it a piano or an accordion. I will be assisting through each stage by discussing and clarifying your needs, explaining differences in quality or price points, choosing a “right-fit” instrument and trying it before the purchase.

I need to cancel a lesson. What do I need to do and how much notice do you need?

Due to the number of students our cancellation policy is very strict. Please bear in mind I teach private students in my free time (as I work at schools during the day). When students don’t come to their lessons with little or no notice at all, it causes serious inconvenience. Please read The Terms and Conditions of this website for more information.
